How often your wash your remy halo hair extensions comes down to how often you are using them. In general it is recommended to wash them from every one to three months. Choose a sulfate free salon quality shampoo for best results. Using distilled water is also highly recommend because it is chemical free and less harsh on your hair extensions. This is especially recommend if you live in area where there is hard water. Check your local market for distilled water in a bottle. This will help to remove mineral deposits from not just the extension hair but also your natural hair. Keeping them both soft and shiny.
Washing in cold water will also help to prevent frizz as this will help keep the cuticle shut and promotes shine. It will also help to lock in the moisture and nutrients. The uses of hot water will open the cuticles and leave your extensions looking less shiny and frizzy. Cold water helps the cuticles to remain flat.
Washing less is always recommended as this will help to prevent your hair from losing it's moisture. Which prevents them from becoming dry. Hair extensions are not the same as your hair because they do no receive the natural oils that your own hair gets. To help aid this issue we recommend to use and argan oil in between washes. Avoid chemicals and heat whenever possible to keep your hair silky soft.
After washing your hair with a professional grade shampoo it is recommend to use a salon grade deep conditioner as well. Rinse in cold distilled water and then apply a leave-in conditioner.
A detangler spray that has a leave-in conditioner is good to use when you are brushing wet hair. Section the hair into smaller sections and work from the bottom up to the top using a wide tooth comb. Be gentle when working your way through the hair. Allow hair to air dry if possible as heat causes the cuticles to open up.
